The Plaza de Los Dolores in Mancha Blanca hosted a wide program of events on the occasion of Canary Islands Day, becoming the epicenter in terms of exhibitions of sports and native games such as wrestling and Canarian ball.
Also very present were the traditional tasks carried out by men and women and that today are already extinct, such as dragging with a donkey, threshing with a camel, the task of how the tafeña was toasted. Visitors could enjoy a walk around the square on the back of a camel or a donkey and see in full operation how the millo was transformed into gofio in an impressive tahona moved by the force of a camel,
On such a special day, music was also present. Thus, throughout the day, different groups and parrandas paraded through the square, such as the Municipal School of Music of Tinajo, the Municipal Band Peña de San Roque directed by Professor Orlando Morales, the Music Classroom directed by Professor Gabriel Cubas, the musical group Atlantis Swing and the parrandas Son del Norte and Pal Porrón. Also, the contest with a prize for the 'Best Decorated Table' was held, in which more and more neighbors participate, and the final phase of the Felix Morales Canarian Ball Tournament was held.
The party continued until 10 pm, and all those who wished could taste appetizers with a taste of the Canary Islands for only one or two euros, such as varied tapas, cheeses, local wines, craft beer and the tasty prawns from La Santa.
All those who came to Mancha Blanca enjoyed something different, especially the little ones, who were powerfully struck by being able to see donkeys and camels so closely, animals that collaborated to carry out the hard work carried out in the fields of Lanzarote by our ancestors and that have now been replaced by motorized machines.
