Next Friday, March 19, the Villa Pipol Batucada Association will pay tribute to Narciso Fuentes Cabrera, "Siso", a well-known carnival character, "for his years of dedication to this festival with his varied and original costumes, making us laugh and enjoy his ideas".
Likewise, Narciso will be appointed as Honorary Member of this batucada, continuing what is expected to be a long list of people and groups, "who with their particular contribution make our Lanzarote carnival richer every year".
In previous years, the work of different representative figures of the carnival has been recognized. In 2006, Juan Medina Guzmán, the "Lanzarote Charlot"; in 2007, Don Domingo Brito Fajardo, for his costumes made with products from the field; in 2008, a group of friends "who year after year have taken to the streets to claim our most original way of having fun": José García, Carmelo Callero, Gabriel Cabrera, Domingo Márquez and, posthumously, Juan Negrin Alayon.
The event will be held at the Villa Pipol Batucada premises at 9:00 p.m., on Escotilla Street, next to Civil Protection.
