A total of 533 migrants arrived on the coasts of Lanzarote through irregular boats last February. This represents 21.5% of the total number of people who arrived in the Canary Islands by sea in the second month of 2025, which amounted to 2,474.

According to data accessed by La Voz, Lanzarote received a total of eleven precarious boats, being the second island with the most arrivals, only behind El Hierro, with 17, as has been happening in recent years. In total, the occupants of 40 boats managed to save their lives and reach a Canary Island.

By type, the most frequent in the Canary route are the cayucos (26), followed by inflatable boats (eleven) and, to a lesser extent, the pateras (two).

Also, according to their origin, the boats that arrived in the archipelago mostly departed from Mauritania, to a lesser extent from Morocco, and only one did so from Gambia.

In total, 358 migrant minors reached the Canary coasts without the company of any of their parents or guardians. Of these, 105 did so to the island of Lanzarote. To this, we must add the minors who traveled with their parents and who are welcomed in other resources, a total of 34.

Last February, six people were reported missing and one died. In addition, there was a shipwreck with one dead and two missing in El Hierro.

In contrast, last year on the same date, 301 migrants arrived on the island of volcanoes in the second month of the year in six inflatable boats.
