"Lanzarote: Garbage Reserve". This is the title of a video that two residents of the island have made to denounce "the lack of education and awareness of some people in Lanzarote" with the environment.
And, these citizens state that they collected "more than 50 cans, 30 bottles of beer and wine, dozens of cigarette butts and other remains in less than 50 square meters, on the edge of a dirt road in Playa Blanca". "If this is progress, we are going against the tide", says one of them.
This man says he is "fed up with irresponsible people and that political parties allow these acts". "There is hardly any surveillance and there are no economic sanctions", adds this citizen, who says that the video will be sent to the Yaiza City Council and the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
"While in Spain there is no change in the party system, the money of all will never be invested in what really matters to the majority of the population, such as campaigns to promote practices and values of awareness with the environment, among many other things. Meanwhile, millions of euros are wasted on unnecessary constructions, an increase in advisors, allowances and substantial salary increases for all councilors, regardless of the party they belong to", he concludes.
