The Lánzate Collective of Lesbians, Gays, Transsexuals, Bisexuals and Sympathizers of Lanzarote will have a state presence. Lánzate joined the state federation of these groups on October 27, in the FELGTB (State Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Transsexuals, Bisexuals of Spain) at the Federal Congress held in Madrid, with the support of the rest of the groups of the Canary Islands.

"With this we not only get to have a voice and vote at the national level but it also contributes to improving our current situation on the island", says Eva de Anta, president of the collective. De Anta explains that in this way, in addition to monetary aid, they will be able to benefit from advice, congresses, projects carried out by the Government for the "prevention of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) or preparation for education", among others. For the president, "all this is for future projection, so that the Lánzate collective becomes strong and has a national presence".

With this new situation, "everything is advantages" and thus De Anta plans to bring "important people to come and give a political-social talk, such as Pedro Zerolo, the president of the Federation Toni Poveda or people who have been in activism for a long time and have an important role at the federative level".

Trajectory

"Our great projects at the political-social level have been that we were born and that we have entered the Federation", declares the president. She does not want to forget the importance for Lánzate of the Altihay collective of Fuerteventura, since "they have been part of the engine that we are here today and they also encouraged us to be in the Federation".

In April they sent the necessary papers to first join the associations of groups in the Canary Islands, which gave them approval a month later. After this, they began to organize activities, such as an information table, a presentation party in the SOMA room and a talk for the Youth Area of the Cabildo.

The objective of the association is "the fight to achieve real equality for Lesbians, Gays, Transsexuals and Bisexuals", defending that "the social scourge that must be eradicated from society is homophobia (hatred of homosexual people) and transphobia (hatred of transsexuals)", since they consider that "only in this way will a society be possible in which we all fit in regardless of our differences".
