When Myriam Fajardo began to dream as a child about the world of fashion, like many girls, she probably did not imagine that one day she would walk on one of the most important catwalks in the country for some of the most recognized designers. But the dream of this 26-year-old from Lanzarote, a lawyer by profession, came true and for some time she has been combining her two passions: the world of law and that of fashion. Last Friday Myriam went up to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid, the old Cibeles catwalk, to walk for the designer Francis Montesinos who was showing his autumn-winter collection.

"I am very happy because working with him is incredible. All his creations are full of color and joy and so was the parade, a spectacle," says this woman of almost perfect measurements: 90-63-92 and 1.80 tall. Although it is not the first time that she has walked for the Valencian designer of haute couture and prêt a porter, Myriam encourages those who have not seen this latest show to do so. For Montesinos she has paraded "luckily", as she points out, on two occasions on the same catwalk.

But this woman from Lanzarote has not only walked for the renowned Valencian. Other great fashion designers have also counted on her. Leyre Valiente, Rosa Clará, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Santiago del Palacio, Pepa Salazar, Esther Noriega or María de la Fuente are some of the designers for whom Myriam Fajardo's conditions have not gone unnoticed. She has also worked with Roberto Torreta, Escada, Ralph Lauren and her latest work has been for a Hoss Intropia website.

"The most important catwalk in Spain"

So far the work that has given her "most satisfaction" has been parading "at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, the most important catwalk in Spain." She has done it on three occasions.  As for the models she admires, Myriam highlights the Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha "for her overwhelming personality" and the Russian Irina Shayk "for her beauty and professionalism".

With a firm step Myriam has been making a place for herself in this world. "I have been very lucky to be able to combine my law studies with the different jobs that have been offered to me, first in La Laguna and later in Madrid", she says.

In the field of fashion she recognizes herself as self-taught and constant. And, as she says, "la training is acquired with experience, based on getting rid of shame, putting yourself in front of a camera, putting on heels and parading".

"It's a hobby, it's not my profession"

And although this young woman from Lanzarote is passionate about what she does in the world of fashion, she is very clear about her priorities: "Working as a model is a hobby for me, something I enjoy, but it is not my profession". And having clear what those priorities are, Myriam does not think it is necessary to consider "having to give up one of them".

In fact, she assures that in the world of fashion, precisely because it is a hobby, she does not set any goals. "Whatever comes will be welcome", she reflects. As for the exercise of her profession, she works as a lawyer in Lanzarote, she says that she will put all her effort "into becoming a great professional".
