Five years after her last visit to the Island, the Israeli singer Noa will once again take to a stage in Conejero. It will be next Tuesday, October 28, when the author of "Calling" will present the songs from her latest album, "Genes & Jeans" under the spotlight of the San Bartolomé Theater. Accompanied by her entire band, with the inseparable Gil Dor, (guitarist and musical director) Gadi Seri (percussionist), Jean Paul Zimbris (drummer), Anat Firestone (bass) and Gil Zohar (synthesizers), the Tel-Aviv-based vocalist promises to revive the best musical moments that she already offered in her previous visit, in 2003.
"Genes & Jeans", released at the beginning of 2008, is a work that mixes roots and modernity, accentuating the varied and eclectic training of Noa herself and Gil Dor, as well as the rest of the band. From the music of Yemeni origin, in which the singer born in Tel-Aviv began her training, the pop that she drank in her youth, passing through the singer-songwriter of her admired Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon, to the jazz that Gil Dor studied, without forgetting classical music and rock.
A whole hodgepodge of influences conveniently mixed to result in a universal and local album at the same time, which in its lyrics reflects the personal experiences of Noa herself, such as her recent motherhood, and in its sound a musical babel, with elements of many different cultures.
Noa's performance will be next Tuesday, October 28, at 9:00 p.m., at the San Bartolomé Theater. The concert is organized by the Social Work of La Caja de Canarias and the Education and Culture area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote. The San Bartolomé City Council collaborates. Tickets for this performance cost 30 euros, and will go on sale from this Monday, October 20 at the CIC El Almacén and in the Culture Department of the San Bartolomé City Council.
