The Management of Sanitary Services of Lanzarote, attached to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, has recognized the six new health professionals who have completed their period of specialized training on the island, during an act in which they were given the accreditation that formalizes the end of their formative residence.
The new specialists of the XXVII promotion of residents of Family and Community Medicine and the XVII promotion of residents of Geriatrics presented this weekend their research papers in an act celebrated in the Civic Center of Arrecife, in which the manager, José Luis Aparicio, and the director of Primary Care, Aniuska Sutil, as well as the teaching team and the tutors of the promotion participated.
The residents finish their training with the presentation of the investigations carried out. Thus, in the case of doctors Laura Rivero and Adelaida Ortega, they presented the work 'Regictus in Lanzarote'. For their part, Claudia Hernández, Cathaysa Estévez and Roberto Sierra addressed in their study the 'Situation of anticoagulated patients in the Basic Health Zone of Arrecife' while Francisco Balea, residents of Geriatrics, finished his training with the work 'Diagnosis by hyperspectral image and risk factors in the diagnosis of Alzheimer's type Dementia'.
After the presentation of the works, the graduation photo and delivery of sashes of the residents of this promotion took place by the head of studies, in which the representative member of the College of Physicians of Las Palmas in Lanzarote also participated.
The new specialists have been trained during the last years in the health centers and hospitals of Lanzarote guided by the Multiprofessional Teaching Unit of Family and Community Care and that of Geriatrics. The head of studies, Dr. Verónica Gutiérrez, underlined in the act the commitment to quality training of the health personnel that makes up the future of Primary and hospital care medicine.
The Management of Lanzarote has a wide teaching trajectory and the Teaching Commission currently coordinates the multiprofessional units of Family and Community Care, Geriatrics and Pediatrics, as well as the Teaching Unit of Obstetric-gynecological Nursing and the recently accredited Internal Medicine, which enables the training in Lanzarote of health professionals from different specialties of medicine and nursing.
On June 30, the Management will receive the next promotion of specialists, 21 new first-year residents who will be trained in the Health Area of the island.
