The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has not confirmed new cases of coronavirus in Lanzarote this Monday and in the latest official balance it continues to place the positives at nine. However, as La Voz has already reported, the island's tests are now having to be sent to Gran Canaria, which could cause delays in knowing the result of the tests.

Until Saturday morning, the official information continued to point to only three cases on the island, but that day it increased by one more and on Sunday it went from four to nine. In addition, among the confirmed positives is that of a healthcare worker from the Las Cabreras nursing home, which has forced the center to be evacuated for disinfection.

Regarding the condition of the confirmed patients, seven are in home isolation, while another two have required hospitalization, as confirmed by the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo. Of the two hospitalized, one of them is in the ICU intensive care unit.

 

More than 480 positives in the Canary Islands, mostly in Tenerife


As for the Canary Islands as a whole, the latest data corresponding to Sunday night reflect a new increase of 67 cases, leaving an accumulated total of 481. Of that figure, 172 have required hospital admission, 32 in the ICU, and there have been seven deaths, of patients who had other serious previous pathologies.

Regarding the distribution by islands, Tenerife has 293 accumulated cases; Gran Canaria, 135; La Palma, 21; Fuerteventura, 18; Lanzarote, 9; La Gomera, 3 and El Hierro, 2.
