Violence against women remains an uneradicated problem. Thus, in Lanzarote, 392 complaints have been registered only between January and September of this year.
Of these, 60% are filed by Spanish women and the rest by foreign women, despite the fact that the latter occupy a smaller percentage of the island's population.
To date, police interventions or complaints to police officers are the most frequent forms of complaint. Thus, 229 have been police reports with complaints from the victim and 116 with reports with direct intervention by the police.
In the first six months of the year, complaints filed by family members account for 22 of the total.
In this line, renunciations to the process of reporting gender violence are also frequent. Thus, 121 women refused to move forward. Of these, 65 were Spanish and 56 were foreign.
