Fashion shows, wine and cheese tastings and artisan elaboration of gofio. These are some of the proposals that attendees of the Lanzarote Craft Fair were able to enjoy, which came to an end this Sunday. In addition, the Cabildo paid tribute to the sailor Marcial Cabrera. Organized by the Departments of Industry, Commerce and Culture of the first Island Institution, the 28th edition of this event has been a showcase in these 5 days of more than 40 artisan modalities.
The event, open since September 14, welcomed more than a hundred artisans from different parts of the Canary archipelago. Many people attended Mancha Blanca, municipality of Tinajo, during the weekend, attracted by the exhibition. Also, several fashion shows, a 'show cooking' on the elaboration of gofio, and cheese and wine tastings, among many other activities, were held. Up to 17 tourist buses came to the Fairgrounds, thanks to the collaboration of the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society.
In addition, on Saturday the Areas of Industry, Commerce and Culture, recognized the work of Marcial Cabrera, who gave the Cabildo the miniature boats that were exhibited in the institutional stand of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. The plastic artist and writer from Lanzarote, Félix Martín Hormiga, made a sketch about this sailor from the Port of Arrecife, in whose workshop he finished his work "El rabo del ciclón", published in 1992.
Ariagona González and Óscar Pérez, accompanied by the accidental president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, José Juan Cruz, gave him the replica of a burgado (small marine snail) made in clay by the Lanzarote ceramist Aquilinio Rodríguez.
The councilors expressed their gratitude "not only for their collaboration in the Craft Fair, but also for the mark that men and women like him have left on Lanzarote. What we are today, what we have, has been thanks to the enormous sacrifices and renunciations that life dedicated to the countryside and the sea entails".
