The practice of aeromodelling will experience an important turning point this weekend. This will be possible thanks to the celebration of the I Aeromodelling Festival Isla de Lanzarote. The event takes place tomorrow from nine o'clock next to the agro-industrial complex of Teguise. Spectators will be able to enjoy the presence of experts in this practice who will delight those attending.
The event, organized by the Aeromodelling Club Diablillos del Aire, will consist of an exhibition of acrobatics made by the pilots. In this case those in charge will be the champion in the F3A category Marcelo Colombo from Argentina, the pilot from Gran Canaria Germán Benítez, the autogyro instructor pilot Daniel del Rosario who will arrive from Fuerteventura, pilots from Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote with the most amazing large-scale aircraft models up to four meters, turbine reactors and models.
Air Combat Exhibition
In addition, there will be an air combat exhibition with live fire. On the other hand, the members of the club will have the possibility of receiving some classes that will be taught by the F3A champion through a seminar and a colloquium. There will even be some flight practices with which they hope to improve the level of flight and, above all, the fine-tuning of the planes.
The club
The Diablillos del Aire organization was born five years ago thanks to the passion of a group of friends for this sport. Then they requested the Cabildo to build a track and with the passage of time they moved near the agro-industrial complex, where the facilities are currently located. Over the years the number of members has also grown from 8 to 35, all of them residents of the Island although from various places and even abroad.
Those who are interested in registering in the organization and thus become part of the Diablillos del Aire only have to come to the facilities. The person will have to pay a federative license and the club fees. Thus, the expenses of the insurance are covered so that if an accident occurs there are no problems.
As for the classes, the members of the club who have more experience are in charge of teaching everyone who comes there to learn how to handle an aeromodel. The ideal time is on weekends from three in the afternoon, as it is usually the time when fans come to practice their favorite sport.
One of the elements that in principle can dissuade to start in this activity is the price. However, it must be taken into account that the cost for a plane with the complete equipment to start practicing can be around 300 euros. In addition, if the device breaks down, the repairs can be between 80 and 90 euros, and in most cases it will not be necessary to buy another plane. For the most experienced pilots in the market there are models that range from 6,000 to 12,000 euros.
Some of the pilots can participate in the Spanish championship, since as there is no regional competition they can present themselves freely. However, from Diablillos del Aire they are committed to holding championships in the Archipelago, since moving to the Peninsula in a private way is more expensive.
