13.09% of the coronavirus cases confirmed in Lanzarote are personnel from the Canary Health Service. According to confirmations from both the Ministry of Health and the Lanzarote Health Area, eleven healthcare workers have tested positive out of the 84 accumulated cases on the island.
Specifically, eight cases have been confirmed at the Molina Orosa Hospital, in addition to two positive cases at the Insular Hospital and one from a health center worker. Six of them, according to the Lanzarote Health Area, were detected in the screening being carried out among healthcare personnel and nursing homes. However, they state that only two of the cases are still active.
In addition to these eleven cases, the Ministry of Health has also confirmed that there have been four healthcare workers from island residences who have tested positive and are not employees of the Canary Health Service. According to La Voz, all four are workers at the Las Cabreras residence, where the positives of two healthcare workers were reported last month, with no further cases having emerged until now.
At this residence, as previously reported, there were also two positives among its users, with no new cases of residents confirmed either in this or other nursing homes on the island.
A total of 951 tests performed in the screening of healthcare workers and residences
Regarding the screening being carried out among healthcare personnel and nursing homes, tests had been performed on 951 people on the island by Monday night, 855 on workers and 96 on residents, according to data from the Lanzarote Health Services Management.
Specifically, tests had already been performed on 500 workers at the Molina Orosa Hospital, while 158 workers and 73 residents had been tested at the Insular Hospital. Additionally, 93 workers from the Titerroy health center, 33 from the Valterra health center, and 12 from the Playa Honda health center had been screened.
As for the residences, tests had only been done at Las Cabreras, in this case on 59 workers and 23 residents. At this residence, the Lanzarote Health Services Management indicated that the screening had already concluded, as it had in the Titerroy and Playa Honda health centers.
Furthermore, the Management highlighted that the Canary Health Service staff consists of 2,500 workers. Thus, discounting the tests performed at the Las Cabreras residence, which does not belong to the SCS, the Ministry of Health would have already tested 31.84% of its personnel.
