Eight people who attended the Monkey On Tour party held on August 1 in an event hall in Puerto del Carmen have tested positive for Covid, according to health sources speaking to La Voz, thus confirming the existence of an outbreak related to this event.

"We have contacted the health authorities and there are no officially recorded cases of relapse at the event," the company organizing the party said on Tuesday, in a statement in which it even stated that it had filed a complaint with the authorities regarding the "false information" spread.

"The information about positive cases circulating through audios and WhatsApp messages is completely false," the company insisted, also assuring that the event had been developed "under the security measures implemented by the Government of the Canary Islands.

However, this Thursday La Voz has been able to confirm that eight people who attended the party have tested positive for Covid, the last of them this Wednesday. According to health sources, more tests have been carried out on party attendees that have come back negative, although the number is unknown. These eight positives are part of the 36 active cases that Lanzarote currently has.
