The Digital Memory project of Lanzarote, managed by the Data Center of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, continues to expand its archive thanks to the incorporation of new audiovisual and photographic collections. During the last months, the web has received important contributions from individuals and institutions that have enriched this public fund of the historical memory of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

Regarding domestic films and videos, recordings in formats such as Super 8 mm or VHS have been added, documenting family scenes, landscapes and popular celebrations from the 1970s to 1990s. Among the new audiovisual funds, the contributions of Onitze Saldías, Normando Peñate, José Antonio Barreto Pacheco, Joaquín Caraballo, José Manuel Clar García or the Tourist Initiatives Center of Gran Canaria, among others, stand out.

For their part, among the photographic collections recently digitized and published, are the funds of Carlos Rojano Silvera, Iris Berger, Carmen Luz Padrón Cabrera, Rob Sargent, the Martín Rosa family, Jerónimo Rodríguez, the Parranda Marinera de Buches, Paco Rivero and María Hiniesta Távora Triano. These images range from family portraits to traditional and cultural scenes of life in Lanzarote and La Graciosa throughout the 20th century.

The Councilor of the Data Center, Ascensión Toledo, wanted to express her gratitude to all the donors "for their generosity in trusting this public project, which not only digitizes and preserves these valuable visual documents, but also makes them available to all citizens, contributing to preserve and disseminate our recent past."

A living archive of the memory of Lanzarote and La Graciosa

The Digital Memory project of Lanzarote aims to locate, recover, digitize and disseminate the audiovisual heritage of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. Thanks to donations from individuals, families and institutions, the archive continues to grow and document fundamental aspects of the social, cultural and landscape evolution of the archipelago.

The service is offered completely free of charge: the originals are scanned or digitized with high-resolution technology, returned to their owners and accompanied by a digital copy.

Anyone interested in collaborating with the project can contact Digital Memory of Lanzarote through the email memoria@cabildodelanzarote.com, the WhatsApp number or mobile phone 620 145 820, or by calling 928 810 100 (ext. 3006).
