In keeping with tradition, the residents of Femés celebrated the festival in honor of the Virgen del Rosario this weekend. For four days they have enjoyed the various events of the festivities, which ended on Sunday with the pilgrimage. That was undoubtedly the day with the highest participation. At 6:00 p.m. the mass was celebrated, which was presided over by the parish priest of Yaiza and Archpriest of Lanzarote, Sixto Álvarez, and later the procession took place.

The songs of the celebration were in charge of some members of the Janubio group and students from the Yaiza Municipal School of Music. Led by Professor Clotildo Martín, the young musicians masterfully performed the Canarian Mass. Once the religious function was over, the image of Our Lady of the Rosary went out in procession on a tour of the upper part of the town.

The passage of the virgin was accompanied throughout the journey by the sound of Canarian songs and by the neighbors and visitors, some of whom were wearing the traditional and typical Canarian costume. In addition, the pilgrims were able to enjoy delicious delicacies such as pumpkin torrijas, roscos, peanut breads, sponge cake, cookies and mimos during the tour, to which the ladies of Femés invited, who have a reputation for being good pastry chefs. When the image arrived back at the portico of the church, the musical offering was carried out, with the sounds of isas, folías and seguidillas.

Once the offering was finished and while the image entered the church, the Virgen del Rosario was dismissed one more year with cheers and applause by the public gathered there. The party continued in the tent installed in the square, where those who wanted to could taste a rich chickpea stew wrapped in the sound of Canarian music.
