Daniel Olivero Hernández, a man who dedicated a large part of his life to the sea, has passed away at the age of 92. He passed away in the early hours of this Thursday in La Santa. He was baptized by Ana Duato, the presenter of the Spanish television program "Un país para comérselo" (A country to eat), as "the patriarch of the La Santa prawn".
Daniel Olivero collaborated in talks about fishing and its arts in schools and institutes on our island, as well as in local festivals. He was also the town crier of the San Roque festivities in his municipality of Tinajo in 2019.
Olivero leaves behind 10 children, including the former councilor of the Tinajo City Council, Cristóbal Olivero, 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Cristóbal thanked Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero for the work of the doctors and healthcare workers who treated his father in his last days of life. "He asked us not to be sad, to sing," he explained emotionally.
