"We do not want to be associated with any format that contains sexist, demeaning attitudes or that may hurt the sensitivity of viewers." This is how the Burger King chain has announced that it is withdrawing its advertising from the "Summer Camp" program, after the controversy experienced a few days ago with Noemí Merino from Lanzarote.

The contestant, dressed only in a bikini, was forced to bathe in chocolate, while the presenter Joaquín Prat made comments about the possibility of the rest of the colleagues licking her. "I think it's very bad that they want me to be the porn girl. I don't like the image they want to give of me," exclaimed Noemí Merino during the program. "Why do you have to say that my colleagues lick something of me? Come and lick it yourself," she told the presenter through tears.

The day after this controversial episode, the program ended up apologizing to the contestant, but by then a [collection of signatures had already begun on the Internet, through the conservative platform Hazte Oir->http://www.hazteoir.org/alerta/52432-dile-no-telecinco-y-su-programaci-n-prostituida].

"Sex shop objects"

"The Summer Camp program, from Telecinco, is dedicated to turning women into sex shop objects, to denigrate them, to televise pornography and to turn television into a brothel. Tell its advertisers that you will boycott their products if they do not withdraw their advertising from this televised garbage," they maintain on that website, in which they have already collected some 25,000 signatures.

The first company to react has been Burger King, which this Friday has announced that it is withdrawing its advertising from the program. In the statement, the company sends its "support to the contestants who have experienced these situations and to all the women who may have felt offended by said content".

This is not the first time that Telecinco has faced a similar situation. In 2011, the La Noria program ran out of advertisers, after another citizen initiative demanded this measure from companies. On that occasion, the trigger was an interview with the mother of El Cuco, one of those responsible for the death of Marta del Casillo. The program paid for that interview, which outraged citizens and ended first in the withdrawal of advertisers and then in the "disappearance" of the program. The presenter, Jordi González, has continued on Saturday nights on Telecinco, but with another format.
