The month of August has become the month with the highest electricity consumption in the history of Lanzarote. This is revealed by the data from the Canary Islands Statistics Institute (ISTAC) to which La Voz has had access.
Since there is data, from 1991 to the present, the barrier of 80,000 megawatt/hours consumed in a month had never been exceeded. In particular, 81,139.8 megawatt hours have been spent. Since the month of April of this year, the electricity consumption on the island has not stopped growing until it exceeds this barrier.
To this must be added that energy production has been higher than in the rest of the year, but it is not enough to cover the entire demand. In total, 67,862.97 kilowatts of energy were produced on the island.
