The Patio de La Recova in Arrecife hosted this Monday morning the presentation of the poster and the program of events of the capital's Carnival.
The event was presented by the mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, who was accompanied by the Councilor for Festivities, Encarna Páez and the author of the poster, Alexandre Pérez.
Also present was the person who will be the announcer of the 2022 Carnival, the memorialist Óscar Torres Perdomo. The proclamation will be read next Friday at 7:45 p.m. on the stage of the Islas Canarias park, where the website "History of Carnival" will also be presented. It will feature the participation of the announcer himself and Jesús Perdomo, in addition to the appearance of Braulio Betancort Tejera.
The mayor was "very excited" that the carnival can finally be celebrated in the city of Arrecife. The program will begin this Friday the 11th and conclude on the 20th, with events for children, young people and adults.
The great novelty of this edition is that the Carnival will have several stages throughout the city, such as the Fairgrounds, the Islas Canarias Park, the Ramírez Cerdá Park and the Plaza de la Iglesia. The mayor and the Councilor for Festivities congratulated the author of the poster, Alexandre Pérez, a student at the Pancho Lasso School of Art, for the "magnificent work", recalling the importance of "maintaining respect and responsibility with health protocols", so that the Carnival is "an example of commitment to health and enjoyment of the party".
Encarna Páez had words of gratitude for the director of the Pancho Lasso School, Manuel Perdomo, extending it to the teachers and students participating in the contest for "the support provided", emphasizing that they have done so "whenever they have been asked for collaboration", because in this way "they also contribute to prestige not only the Carnival of Arrecife but also its students who in this way have an extra motivation to start adding to their curriculum".
Alexandre Pérez addressed all those present to explain the content of his work called "Daily Joy", inspired by Charles Chaplin, to coincide with the allegory of the "Movie Carnival", chosen on this occasion for these carnivals 2022. Alexandre Pérez had made "two other works", but in the end he decided to submit this one to the contest, becoming a finalist.
