The public security, local police, cleaning and public works services of the Arrecife City Council have enabled an action and coordination protocol in the face of the yellow level alert for rain in the next few hours in Lanzarote.
"This Thursday afternoon, the necessary means have been enabled to protect the entrances of businesses in the areas of greatest risk and a team of volunteers has been established in the Civil Protection warehouse in Arrecife, which will be on alert for possible incidents," they point out from the Consistory.
For its part, the Cabildo of Lanzarote has recommended that citizens take "caution" in the face of the forecast of rain, recalling the usual recommendations, such as checking the condition of roofs and drains, avoiding floodable places, such as ravines, limiting car journeys in case of heavy rain, not using elevators and only drinking bottled water.
According to Aemet's forecasts, the heavy rains will begin in the early hours of this Thursday to Friday, when the yellow warning will be activated. The pre-alert will be in force, in principle, until the following early morning, from Friday to Saturday.
