Organized by the Coros y Danzas de Arrecife Folkloric Group and with the collaboration of the Department of Festivities of the Arrecife City Council, the traditional Baile del Candil was held for the first time in the program of events of the San Gines festivities.

The event took place on Wednesday night next to the Music Kiosk in the José Ramírez Cerdá Park and with the participation of nine folkloric groups representing the municipalities of Lanzarote. The municipality of Haría was represented by Malpaís de La Corona, while Teguise was represented by the Guanapay, La Gran Aldea and Guagime groups. The municipality of Tías was represented by Gaida and Güerma, San Bartolomé by the Guadarfía group and Arrecife by the Parranda Marinera Los Buches and Coros y Danzas de Arrecife.

Each group gave the best of themselves, ensuring from the beginning of the dance until the end that all those who came to the meeting place enjoyed and participated with the traditional songs and dances, where the folías, isas, sorondongos, malagueñas, seguidillas, berlinas and siotes were very present. A day highly valued by the participating groups, where the coexistence between all was undoubtedly the predominant note to continue carrying out this Baile de Candil initiative in the coming years within the program of the San Ginés festivities,

Before the end of the event, Santiago Torres, as representative of Coros y Danzas Arrecife, thanked very excitedly for being so supported by all the colleagues of the participating groups and presented them with a commemorative sculpture of the 60th anniversary of the group he directs. David Duarte, Councilor for Festivities of the City Council, was also present at the event and was very satisfied with the success achieved in this first edition.
