"The Three Kings parade will end this year in the center of Arrecife." This was announced by the Councilor of Festivities of Arrecife, David Duarte, in an interview for Radio-Lanzarote Onda Cero. According to the councilman, this time the floats will leave from the fairgrounds (where they ended in recent years) and will reach the Puente de las Bolas, in the heart of Arrecife, "to recover the traditional route that was made on the Island."

The councilman has pointed out that this change responds to the question of "where is the Christmas spirit", whether on the outskirts of Arrecife or in the center. "We must try to recreate that spirit that we carry inside and that we already experienced those of us who are a little older when the parade passed through Calle Real and then you could stay shopping in those streets."

He also recalled when the Three Kings walked "through the Ramírez Cerdá park" and pointed out that with the route of recent years, he misses the "human warmth", "where to buy something or eat a chocolate with churros after seeing Their Majesties." These are "things that are missing on the outskirts of Arrecife" and "must be brought back."

Although Duarte has admitted that, in recent years, "the shops in the capital close around 8:00 p.m. on the eve of Three Kings Day", he believes that this schedule will change. "The shops have also been considered when the route was changed, so that it ends in the center, since until now, people who saw the parade in the south did not bother to go to the center," he said.

He has also anticipated that they are working to make a recreation at the end of the route, at the Puente de las Bolas, "so that the children are left with that memory." And he considers "that the parade does not have to be done for adults, because the children are the protagonists, even though the Three Kings are the main actors."
