A man with coronavirus died this Sunday in Lanzarote, raising to eight the number of fatal victims on the island since the pandemic began. The man was 60 years old and suffered from another serious pathology, but that had nothing to do with the respiratory system. Thus, this death is directly linked to Covid-19, which leads to pneumonia in the most severe cases.
The deceased was in the Intensive Care Unit of the Molina Orosa Hospital, which last week had been free of coronavirus patients but in recent days had received two admissions.
This is the second death that has occurred in Lanzarote since the second wave of Covid began on the island. The first took place on August 28 and at that time the island had been three and a half months without registering deaths linked to this disease.
In the first wave there were a total of six deaths, all of them between March 24 and May 8.
