"Alicia, el musical", by the Gran Canaria company Clapso, begins its Christmas tour on December 11 at the San Bartolomé Theater in Lanzarote, with two performances, at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. This is the first time that this musical show aimed at a family audience has been performed on the island.

Based on Lewis Caroll's work "Alice in Wonderland", it has a "daring and groundbreaking" staging, which has little to do with the traditional iconography of this character, thanks to a visually impactful set design and an original wardrobe that avoids the image created by cinema and television", says Israel Reyes, director and author of the text.

More than 150,000 spectators in 2008

The soundtrack takes a journey through Marisol's songs, with adapted lyrics and melodies and in this way, "Corre, corre caballito", becomes "Corre, corre conejito", for example. The result, surprising to more than one, has been versioned and arranged by the Canarian musician Germán Arias.

"Alicia, el musical" premiered in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on December 15, 2008 and to date has been seen by more than 150,000 spectators. "It has already toured stages in the islands and the peninsula", says Reyes, "and we want the Canarian public to continue enjoying this show throughout the month of December".

Canarian cast

The cast of actors in this production is entirely Canarian, with the performance of names from the Canarian scene such as Rosa Escrig, in the leading role, Mingo Ruano, who will give life to the white rabbit and the mad hatter, Rosa Díez, in the role of caterpillar, José Carlos Campos, as the March hare, and Silvia Padrón, who will be the queen of hearts.
