The 'Elisa Corujo' Family Respite Center in San Bartolomé will open on March 1. A project whose objective is to guarantee comprehensive care for the elderly with various programs and that comes to respond to the reconciliation of family, work and personal life of caregivers.
The deadline to submit access requests is now open, and can be done through the electronic headquarters of the town hall, in the General Registry of the Town Hall and in the Registries of the municipal offices. These applications will be available throughout the year for people interested in requesting one of the 30 places available at the Center.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, has stated that, with this opening, “we culminate one of the most ambitious projects of the municipality, through which we take an important step in our defense of a sustainable social care system, guaranteeing the company and professional care to the beneficiaries of the service, as well as time for their families to maintain their personal, work and social activities.”
For her part, the Councilor for the Elderly, Carmen Medina, has pointed out that the Center “is aimed at people with functional limitations, cognitive impairment, reduced mobility or who partially depend on third parties to function in daily life” and recalled that the real beneficiaries served could "exceed 30" depending on the service modality they choose.
The Family Respite Center will have opening hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and will have a multidisciplinary team made up of psychology, social work and occupational therapy personnel. Together with the applications, the documentation established in article 6.3 of the Internal Regulations of the San Bartolomé Center for the Elderly 'Respiro Familiar' must be provided, which can be consulted on the town hall website, or in the BOP of Las Palmas, nº 127, of October 20, 2023.
In this sense, the requirements that must be met by people interested in accessing it are the following:
- Over 60 years of age. In exceptional and duly justified cases, it is contemplated to allocate a maximum of five places of the total for those people who, complying with the rest of the requirements demanded in this regulation, are between 40 and 60 years of age.
- Be registered with one year of seniority and residing in the municipality.
- Present any of the following characteristics: People with dependency or social isolation: they have a scarce socio-family support network or live alone, generating a situation of risk or psychosocial deprivation; people with functional limitations, with reduced mobility or who partially depend on third parties to carry out the basic or instrumental activities of daily life; people with reduced mobility, with difficulty walking or using their upper limbs, who need rehabilitation or help to do so automatically; and people with cognitive impairment in their mental capacities, given by their natural aging process or by physical or mental pathologies.
In addition, the following documents must be submitted to apply for a place in the center for the elderly 'Respiro Familiar':
- Application according to official model; DNI/NIE cohabitation unit; certificate of registration and cohabitation; health card.
- Proof of the economic income of each of the members of the family unit: Pensioners: pension certificate. Employees on behalf of others: last payroll. Self-employed workers: last quarterly settlement of the IRPF and/or last Social Security contribution bulletin and, in any case, declaration of responsibility for the monthly income received. Unemployed: DARDE and certificate from the Canarian Employment Service of benefits. Students over 18 years of age: certificate or enrollment of studies.
- In case of separation or divorce: judgment and/or regulatory agreement (in case of no sworn statement).
- Lease agreement of the house and proof of payment of the last monthly payment or mortgage receipt.
- Income declaration of the last financial year or, failing that, negative certificate of its presentation corresponding to the last financial year, which includes all the members of the family unit (or authorization for the issuance by the City Council of the corresponding Certificate of all the members of the cohabitation unit).
- Authorization for obtaining cadastral data of all members of the cohabitation unit.
- Updated medical report, indicating the state of health and medical history and specifying the diagnosis, degree of dependency and personal development (indicating the suitability and necessity of the resource).
- Medical reports indicating the medical prescription of the medications to be administered.
- Declaration of responsibility authorizing the municipal Administration to collect any type of information that may be in its possession or request it from other Administrations.
- Certificate of bank details for the direct debit of monthly payments.
- In the case of being in possession of the recognition and qualification of the degree of disability or recognition of the situation of dependency, said documentation will be taken into account, but it will not be a mandatory requirement for said application.
- All documentation that is considered appropriate for the correct assessment of the circumstances that motivated the request.
