The government group of San Bartolomé has initiated the administrative procedure to label the municipality's Family Respite Center, which will open shortly, with the name of the geriatrician Elisa Corujo.
With this initiative, the council honors "on an honorary basis" the healthcare professional, who currently works at the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital, but who for many years worked as a geriatrician at the Insular Hospital of Lanzarote.
Thus, Elisa Corujo also starred in the opening speech of the patron saint festivities of San Bartolomé in 2019 and took the opportunity to review her history in the town.
In 2022, the Lanzarote Health Management launched a Healthcare Ethics Committee, which tries to clarify and address health doubts and ethical conflicts, and which was headed by Elisa Corujo herself along with other health professionals.
In addition, Elisa Corujo is a patron of the César Manrique Foundation.
