A young woman was rescued from the sea this Wednesday afternoon on La Cantería beach, in the municipality of Haría. It was the REN lifeguards who, seeing her in distress, jumped into the water to help her. Finally, she did not need medical assistance.

The incident occurred at around 3:30 p.m., when this bather, 26 years old and of Italian nationality, was bathing in this beach, located behind the Órzola pier, with two other friends. "She was carried away by the current, which is very strong there," explained the REN. The young woman was trying to swim against the current to get out of the water when the lifeguards noticed and came to her aid.

After jumping into the sea with the rescue boards, the two lifeguards who watch the beach managed to bring her to shore. The young woman showed "evident signs of fatigue", but finally did not require medical assistance.
