The 19-year-old young man arrested for threats, injuries and thefts last week has been sent to prison as the alleged perpetrator of three counts of robbery with violence, one count of sexual assault and one count of assault against an agent of the authority. The Moroccan national, who also has seven police records in just over a year, is also one of the alleged perpetrators of the assault on the woman who caught two people robbing her home
The National Police details that the events were triggered after a citizen called the 091 telephone number, reporting that a man was on Calle León y Castillo in the capital of Arrecife trying to rob several establishments.
The agents who went to the scene interviewed several people, and a witness told them how the person who was trying to rob the shops, was the same one who threatened her with a sharp object, assaulted her and masturbated in front of her last morning of the 20th.
After being located by the police, he tried to flee. However, they were able to reach him, managing to reduce him after he offered strong resistance to the arrest.
Perpetrator of other crimes
This same person had allegedly participated in several events that same day. Hours after what was described by the witness, this young man allegedly entered a house of a 74-year-old woman along with other people, assaulted her and stole a bag. She had to be treated that night at a nearby health center.
The National Police adds that, hours later, at around 08:00 in the morning, he threatened another person with a sharp object and stole a mobile phone and other personal belongings.
For all these reasons, and with the knowledge of the agents of all the events allegedly committed by this individual, he was arrested for three counts of robbery with violence, one count of sexual assault and one count of assault against an agent of the authority.
After the corresponding police report was prepared, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority, who ordered his immediate imprisonment.
The police investigation remains open and further arrests are not ruled out.
