Thirteen-time world windsurfing champion, Bjorn Dunkemberck, was arrested at approximately 04:00 on Saturday morning in Playa Barca, Pájara, after allegedly punching his partner in the face in the presence of two Civil Guard officers, according to eyewitnesses.

The world windsurfing champion was leaving a party organized on the occasion of the Windsurfing World Championship that has been held since July 21 on the aforementioned beach in the South of Fuerteventura with his wife when he allegedly assaulted her, causing her to fall to the ground in front of a couple of civil guards who were on duty.

Immediately, Dunkerbeck was arrested by agents of the Local Police of Pájara who transferred him to the Civil Guard barracks of Gran Tarajal, Tuineje, where the appropriate proceedings were initiated for an alleged crime of domestic violence.

For her part, the windsurfer's partner was treated at the scene by a doctor from the Pájara Emergency Service who ordered her transfer to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura after diagnosing her with mild traumatic brain injury.

According to ACN Press, Bjorn Dunkerbeck could appear in court next Monday, meanwhile, he will remain in the cells of the Benemérita.

People close to the World Windsurfing Champion confirmed that in recent days the windsurfer had been nervous about the results obtained in the Championship that had delegated him to a fifth position in the Slalom category and not much better in the Speed category, to which must be added the lack of wind in recent days and the suspension of the tests.
