An 80-year-old woman and an 86-year-old man were injured this Tuesday in a traffic accident on the LZ-46 road, which runs from La Vegueta to Mancha Blanca. Both have been transferred to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital, although their health condition is not serious, according to reports from the Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes) 112.
The two injured parties were involved in an accident in which two vehicles collided, near the Las Cadenas restaurant. The 112 received the alert a few minutes before 12:00 and notified the health personnel of the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), the Civil Guard, Local Police and the firefighters of the Security and Emergency Consortium, since two occupants had been trapped in a vehicle.
The firefighters assessed the condition of the vehicle in which there were two trapped passengers and found that it had a "strong lateral impact" on the left side. Thus, the emergency agents have chosen to lower the roof and leave a gap to extract the victims.
The paramedics attended to the two affected and stabilized them. The woman presented a mild traumatic brain injury and the man a cervicalgia, according to the same sources.
The firefighters also disconnected the vehicle's battery and removed the glass from the road. They also helped the crane operators to remove one of the vehicles from the road.
