Two people have been arrested this Thursday after allegedly assaulting and robbing a woman inside her vehicle in the town of Puerto del Carmen. Apparently, the assailants forced the woman to travel with them to Arrecife and, once there, the victim had to withdraw money from her credit card to give it to the alleged thieves. In addition, the woman was abandoned in the Tinasoria neighborhood and the police later found her driving her vehicle on José Antonio Street. The victim was "full of bruises and bloody", according to the councilor in charge of the area in the Arrecife City Council, Cristina Marrero, on Radio Lanzarote this Friday.
The assailants, natives of Lanzarote, who are between 30 and 40 years old, took advantage of the fact that the driver and the victim's son had gotten out of the car for a few moments to get into the vehicle and flee with the victim inside. Once in Arrecife, they approached an ATM on Calle Méjico where they forced the woman to withdraw "all the money from the cards." In addition, according to the Police, they stole her wallet. Later they went to Tinasoria, where they abandoned her.
Officers from the Arrecife Local Police located the woman's car after all the police on the island were alerted by the Tías Civil Guard. They found the victim with "bruises and bloody", while driving in a great state of "nervousness" on José Antonio Street. The victim was transferred to the hospital.
Shortly after, an Arrecife Police officer found two individuals acting suspiciously in the vicinity of Calle Real. He asked for reinforcements in case the men "were armed" and watched them until they entered a restaurant.
There they were searched and a "large amount of money" was found. In addition, a witness assured the agents that he had seen them get rid of part of their belongings. For this reason, the police initiated a search of the area that resulted in the discovery of a paper with the pin codes of the victim's credit cards. Both alleged thieves were transferred to the Civil Guard post.
