The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Tías arrested three people on April 10 for a crime of robbery with violence and intimidation, theft, fraud and membership of a criminal group, for stealing all their belongings from a person and subsequently coercing them to recover them. Specifically, after the robbery they asked him to hand over money, in exchange for returning his stolen mobile phone.
The three detainees are between 25 and 35 years old, one of them with a police record, and all were brought to justice.
The events took place during the early morning of March 15, when a tourist was in a well-known leisure venue in the Atlántico Shopping Center in Puerto del Carmen and noticed the theft of his wallet with all the documentation and the mobile phone.
Shortly after, the victim was required by three people, who showed him his credit card, informing him that they were also in possession of his mobile phone, and that to recover it, he should make cash deliveries to them, being returned the bank card to be able to withdraw the requested money.
After the appropriate investigation, the agents concluded that the assailants acted "jointly and in an organized manner, as it was observed how the same three involved apparently did the same with another foreign tourist and in the same place, taking advantage of the fact that the victims were with their senses diminished by having been consuming alcohol in said place of leisure." In the case of this tourist, they asked for 150 euros in cash to return her mobile phone, valued at 650 euros.
The Civil Guard managed to identify the alleged perpetrators after analyzing the images and evidence, and they were arrested in the same place where the events occurred: the Atlántico Shopping Center.
