The young man who died in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday in a traffic accident near the San Bartolomé karting track was Mario Alberto Roca Muñoz, a resident of Arrecife of Ecuadorian nationality, according to La Provincia.

Mario Alberto arrived in Lanzarote thirteen years ago, where his parents, Mario and Marianela, and his four sisters, Alejandra, Andrea, Melissa and Carolina, also live. He was 27 years old and not 24 as reported by the Security and Emergency Consortium. The young man, who worked as a waiter at the Aequora Suites Lanzarote hotel in Puerto del Carmen, was enjoying his day off and was returning home when he lost control of his car, which he had bought a short time ago, ran off the road and overturned.

When the firefighters arrived at the scene of the accident, which took place at around one in the morning, the young man was trapped inside the vehicle and without a pulse, and neither the Security and Emergency Consortium nor the SUC paramedics could save his life.
