The wall of an abandoned house located on Calle La Inés in Arrecife collapsed on Friday morning as a result of the strong wind hitting the island.

The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m., when the Emergency Coordinating Center (Cecoes) 112 received a call, alerting them to the collapse of the wall of this house. "I heard a very loud bang and when I turned around there was a huge cloud of smoke," says a parking attendant in the area, who witnessed the events.

Local Police and firefighters from the Security and Emergency Consortium went to the scene and, after verifying that no damage had occurred, notified the City Council of what had happened, so that it could proceed to remove the debris. Likewise, the Local Police has notified the technicians of the City Council of the need to demolish this abandoned house.

The house is located in an open space where cars usually park. However, luckily, there were no vehicles parked next to the house this Friday. There was a car parked nearby, which will be removed, due to the danger that a part of the wall that had not fallen may also collapse.

"I haven't heard anything, but this was to be expected, that one day it was going to come down. Luckily, at least a tragedy hasn't occurred," says a neighbor, who lives in a block of houses that is right next door.
