This Friday, at 11 o'clock, the trial has begun in the Criminal Court number 1 of Arrecife against the six British soldiers who allegedly starred in a fight in the Argentine restaurant La Vaca Loca, located next to the seaside town of Costa Teguise. All of them are charged with crimes of injury and property damage, while some of them also face a crime of assault on authority.

The six soldiers were placed in provisional prison without bail by order of the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 4 of Arrecife on February 9.

The events occurred on February 6 when, apparently, two British soldiers entered the La Vaca Loca restaurant in Costa Teguise to ask about a nightclub and one of them took a bottle of wine with the intention of taking it. The owner, Hernán Martín, came out of the bar to reproach his attitude, but both grabbed him and began to beat him.

According to eyewitnesses, six soldiers who were waiting outside entered the premises, where a fight broke out, which ended with several customers and workers in the hospital, in addition to the premises being "destroyed". One of the injured was the restaurant's own cook, Martín Vessecchia, who said that "the soldiers entered quite drunk".

When the attack occurred, there were around 30 people in the restaurant, some of them children and elderly. Bruises, wounds and contusions were the result of an "unforeseen" fight carried out by "very well coordinated soldiers" who "came to kill", according to the version of a witness.
