The person arrested for the assault that occurred in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday on Manolo Millares street in Arrecife had already been arrested by the National Police for other events a week ago. Specifically, it is the 30-year-old who was arrested in the early hours of October 26 for going without a mask in Arrecife threatening people with a stick and a bottle, and who also caused damage to a vehicle and threatened the National Police officers with death.
Regarding the events that occurred this weekend, although 112 reported that the assault had occurred with a knife, the National Police has now clarified that the arrested person assaulted the victim with a broken glass bottle to steal his mobile phone. The alleged aggressor was detained by several witnesses until the arrival of the agents.
In fact, the officers went to Manolo Millares street after receiving a call from a citizen reporting that they had the aggressor detained. When they arrived at the scene, the officers observed that the victim had bleeding wounds on both arms, so they requested medical assistance.
The victim told the officers that the individual being held had assaulted him moments before with a glass bottle to steal his mobile phone. Regarding the injured party, who was transferred by ambulance to the Molina Orosa Hospital, it is noted that he had to receive several stitches.
Threats to the officers: "I'm going to give you the coronavirus"
The National Police officers arrested the alleged perpetrator of the events for the crime of robbery with violence and injuries despite the "strong resistance" of this person. According to the police force, he threatened the officers with words such as "I'm going to give you the coronavirus, I'm going to set off a bomb and I'm going to kill you all."
After that, the officers were able to verify that this person had been arrested by the National Police last Monday as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of resistance and serious disobedience to authority, threats and damages. After the corresponding police report was prepared, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
