The National Police has warned about a new type of scam in which an application accepted by most banking entities, known as Bizum, is used.
"In certain occasions, criminals advertise fictitious articles, products, vehicles or properties through specialized websites, demanding a Bizum as a means of payment or reservation", explains the police force, which specifies that "the scam is consummated when the product is not sent or does not exist as such."
"In other cases", he adds, "it is an alleged buyer who is interested in an article advertised on the aforementioned websites, but on this occasion he himself asks for money instead of sending it." "If the seller does not realize the type of transaction and accepts it, he makes a transfer to the criminal", warns the National Police.
To avoid this type of scams, they recommend "carefully check the notifications received through the Bizum service, email or message." In addition, if the crime has been consummated, they ask the victims to contact "as soon as possible with their bank" and "report the facts to the National Police."
