The Local Police sealed off the kitchen of the bar in Arrecife where those intoxicated by cannabis ate paella the day before, who had to be treated at the Molina Orosa Hospital after feeling unwell shortly after the meal.
From the police force they have specified that there were seven affected although, according to La Voz, there were a dozen people who were evacuated by ambulance to the hospital center. However, only eight of them required medical assistance.
In addition to acting on the premises, the Local Police have opened an investigation to clarify what happened. And it is that, for now it is unknown if the drug that those affected claim they did not voluntarily consume was in the paella as they stated they suspected.
Proposal for sanction for lacking authorization to provide meals
However, a Public Health inspector also visited the bar this Monday and, according to the island director of the Lanzarote Health area, Noelia Umpiérrez, a proposal for sanctions will be raised to the establishment as it has been verified that it lacks authorization to offer food.
Likewise, Umpiérrez has indicated that the Emergency Department of the Molina Orosa Hospital made a report of injuries to those affected, although she has pointed out that it should be the Police who clarify what happened.
