The GES helicopter rescued a 52-year-old woman this Saturday, who was injured after falling into the Caldera Blanca crater in Tinajo. The incident occurred at 12:47 p.m. and, in the fall, the woman fractured her ankle, according to the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes) 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands.

112 received an alert, in which it was reported that a woman had suffered a fall and required medical assistance. When the police services and firefighters from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium arrived at the scene, they observed that the affected woman was in a place difficult to evacuate by land.

Given this circumstance, they activated the GES helicopter to proceed with her rescue. The affected woman was on the crest of the volcano, so the helicopter found a support point to land. The rescuer, with the help of the Local Police and firefighters, immobilized the injured woman on the stretcher.

Once in the helicopter, the woman was evacuated to the Lanzarote airport. From the aerodrome, an ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) transferred the injured woman to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital.
