The wave of robberies that ended this Monday with [a spectacular police operation and three arrests->78227] has not only affected Costa Teguise. Some businesses in Tahíche could also have been victims of this "gang", whose alleged leader was arrested along with his wife and 19-year-old daughter.
In fact, the last reported robbery did not occur in Costa Teguise, but in a supermarket in Tahíche, and the Civil Guard believes that the detained family would also be behind this and other events. In all the cases that are being investigated within this operation, the robberies occurred in businesses, especially restaurants and even hotel complexes.
After the arrests last Monday, which La Voz de Lanzarote reported as a scoop, the investigation remains open and a new arrest is not ruled out, as agents were looking for a friend of the family, who may have also participated in the robberies.
In addition, we must add the arrest of two other people that occurred weeks ago, and that precisely allowed us to reach the family arrested on Monday. In that first arrest, the Local Police intervened, who have worked on this case together with the Civil Guard.
"Close collaboration"
"A close collaboration between both bodies has allowed the residents of Tahíche and Costa Teguise to sleep a little more peacefully," highlighted the Councilor for the Local Police of Teguise, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, on Radio Lanzarote ? Onda Cero. The councilor praised the "good collaboration" that currently exists between the Civil Guard and the Local Police of the municipality, which he considers has been key in this operation.
In fact, he pointed out that "most of the crimes in that area are reported to the Civil Guard, but this type of information flows between both bodies." And that allowed them to reach the house on Panamá street, in Costa Teguise, which was searched last Monday. There, the agents found cash registers, safes and other objects that could have been the result of the robberies.
The GRS of Tenerife
In addition, the councilor wanted to publicly thank the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise and its head. "When we contacted them about the concern we had about the continuous robberies that have occurred this summer, they immediately proposed the incorporation of the GRS (Reserve and Security Group) of Tenerife," he said.
And it is that this special group of the Civil Guard, which has been deployed on the island in recent weeks, was the one who took charge of the investigation, with the support of agents from Costa Teguise and local police officers from the municipality.
"The important thing is that a great job has been done between both bodies and the arrest has been achieved, and we must continue working in the same line," Jiménez stressed.
