Civil Guard officers from the Main Post of Yaiza arrested four people, with initials M.M.J., J.B.G., J.E.V.A., and M.D.A., one of them being a foreign national, as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health. The agents seized 72.5 grams of cocaine and different elements for its consumption, after the inspection in a leisure venue, located in a shopping center in the town of Playa Blanca.
Since the beginning of December, the Civil Guard had been conducting an investigation that raised suspicions about the aforementioned venue as a point of sale for different narcotics in the area. Finally, on the 22nd of this month, an operation was established with several units of the Civil Guard in Lanzarote and agents of the Local Police of Yaiza. Thus, they proceeded to the inspection and search, during opening hours to the public, of the aforementioned leisure venue.
This operation resulted in the arrest of four people for crimes against public health, and the seizure of 72.5 grams of cocaine. Likewise, the managers of the establishment were reported for an infraction of article 23, section i, of Organic Law 1/1992, on the Protection of Citizen Security, for allowing the consumption of narcotics in the aforementioned venue.
The four detainees, along with the seized narcotics, have been placed at the disposal of the respective duty court in the town of Arrecife.
