The Civil Guard has seized 310 kilos of hashish this past weekend in two operations carried out in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, where nine people have been arrested, as reported this Monday by the Armed Institute.

On the one hand, and within the framework of the so-called "Aladín" Operation, still in progress and developed in Lanzarote, together with the [nine detainees from last week with 641 kilos of Hashish->http://www.lavozdelanzarote.com/article.php3?id_article=2606], this weekend, officers from the Judicial Police Team of the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise have seized another 100 kilos of hashish and have arrested another four Moroccan citizens.

This important operation, which is "only one of the numerous investigations currently being carried out by the Armed Institute" according to the [insular director of the State Administration, Marcial Martín->http://www.lavozdelanzarote.com/article.php3?id_article=553], which is still open and under judicial secrecy, has so far resulted in the arrest of 13 people -12 Moroccans and one from Lanzarote- and 741 kilos of Hashish Resin seized.

On the other hand, this past Sunday a Patrol Boat of the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard recovered several bales of hashish (210 kilos in total) that were floating in the high seas at a distance of 21 miles from the La Entallada Lighthouse, in the municipality of Tuineje in Fuerteventura, after the warning of a fishing boat that alerted of the finding.

According to police sources, the approximately seven bales found could have been thrown into the sea by the inflatable boat with five Moroccan citizens that the "Almirante Díaz Pimienta" Patrol Boat of the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard intercepted on Saturday afternoon.

The statement explains that at about 3:00 p.m. this past Saturday, the radars of the [Comprehensive Exterior Surveillance System (S.I.V.E.)->http://www.lavozdelanzarote.com/article.php3?id_article=2566&var_recherche=sive] detected a signal in the high seas that indicated the position of a possible boat.

A Civil Guard helicopter and the "Almirante Díaz Pimienta" Patrol Boat began the search for this boat, which turned out to be an inflatable boat of 5 meters in length and 1.80 meters in beam, which made several evasive maneuvers trying to flee until after a complicated chase it was finally intercepted with its five occupants 20 miles from the La Entallada Lighthouse.

At the time of the interception, the zodiac did not carry drugs inside, although there were indications that it had transported some narcotic substance.

The five detainees are accused of a Crime Against Public Health for Drug Trafficking and will be brought to justice in the next few hours.
