A man of Spanish nationality with the initials F.A.F. was arrested last Monday as the alleged perpetrator of 7 robberies with force inside rental vehicles. According to the Civil Guard, the alleged thief took advantage of the fact that the cars were parked at the tourist viewpoints of El Río and Yé to break the window and take what was inside, always using the same 'modus operandi'. The detainee has been placed at the disposal of the Arrecife duty court.

The Costa Teguise Civil Guard station was in charge of the investigations, which began as a result of a series of robberies that occurred in these mentioned areas. All these robberies presented a series of common characteristics, such as the fracture of windows with a blunt object, the time slot or the fact that they were looking for "only vehicles under rental", according to explains the Benemérita.

Based on the different evidence collected by the agents, and the statements of several victims of the robberies, the Civil Guard was able to locate and arrest the alleged perpetrator of the events. In addition, so far a smartphone-type mobile phone has been recovered, although the agents "continue working on the recovery of other stolen effects."

To avoid this type of event, the Civil Guard recommends not leaving objects inside the vehicle that can be seen from the outside, such as wallets, suitcases or clothing, as well as always checking that the doors and windows are properly closed. They also advise activating the anti-theft systems available to the vehicle and always carrying the main valuables with you, "especially personal items and identification and bank documents."
