Gonzalo Martín Cabrera will be in the dock on Tuesday, March 17, accused of a continuing crime of sexual abuse of a girl who was only 10 years old when the events occurred. The Prosecutor's Office is asking for 6 years in prison for him, as well as a ban on approaching the minor within 500 meters for seven years. In addition, it demands compensation of 6,000 euros for the victim.

The events, which will be judged by the Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas, occurred between March 2010 and July 2011. According to the Prosecutor's Office, the defendant's son was a friend of the girl who suffered the alleged abuse. "During the stays that the minor spent in the home where the accused resides", located in Teguise, "he took advantage of those moments when the minor was alone to lower his pants and underwear, show her his genitals and subject her to all kinds of touching on her breasts and genitals, both above and below her clothes", the prosecutor maintains.

In addition, he recounts two other specific episodes, in which the accused allegedly "took advantage" of other circumstances to approach the minor. One of them occurred one of the nights when the girl stayed to sleep at his house. "With renewed lascivious intentions", while the girl was sleeping and "after undressing from the waist down, he placed himself on top of the minor until she woke up and, frightened, managed to get him off her".

On another occasion, always according to the prosecutor's indictment, "under the pretext of taking" several minors to a toy store", and "with despicable lascivious intent, he told her to do it in the car, with the intention of maintaining a sexual relationship with the minor with carnal access, the latter refusing the request".

After the girl reported the events, Gonzalo Martin was arrested and even entered provisional prison on July 19, 2011, although ten days later he was released on charges, pending the trial that is now going to be held.

The trial was initially set for November 2013, but the hearing had to be suspended due to the absence of an "essential witness". Finally, a date has been set again for this Tuesday, almost a year and a half later.
