Playa Chica, also known as La Barrilla beach, has reopened to the public at noon this Friday.

This well-known beach, located in the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen in Tías, had been affected since the morning of this Thursday due to the presence of the Escherichia Coli bacteria, known as E.Coli bacteria. This organism is present inside the intestines of human beings and can generate conditions in people, especially in children and the elderly.

According to the E. Coli infection surveillance protocol of the Canary Islands Health Service, infections caused by this bacteria manifest as severe abdominal cramps, which can translate into watery diarrhea or with spots of blood.

Thus, at noon this Friday, the report from the laboratory that analyzes the samples from this beach has been favorable, so it has been decided to open the beach for swimming.
