The Traffic Civil Guard immobilized the vehicles of the offending drivers

More than thirty people tested positive for alcohol and drugs in the controls carried out by the Traffic Civil Guard on the weekend of July 22 to 24, on the occasion of the "White Night" festivities in Teguise and the town of La Santa

The Civil Guard carried out, in the exercise of its specific functions, the operational devices that are framed within "the planning of services for the prevention of risk behaviors related to the consumption of alcohol, toxic drugs and narcotics while driving." Therefore, the operations focused on the establishment of devices on interurban roads of access and exit from the places where such events took place. 

In the early morning of July 23, the agents of the Arrecife Traffic Detachment focused on the celebration of the "White Night", in the municipality of Villa de Teguise, where more than 15,000 people gathered, and where verification devices focused on the LZ-1 and LZ-30 were planned, in the vicinity of Mozaga and San Bartolomé in the direction of Arrecife. 

On the other hand, during the early morning of July 24, 2022 and on the occasion of the celebration of the "Fiestas del Carmen" in La Santa, where according to sources from said Consistory between 5,000 and 7,000 people gathered, the devices focused on the main access roads to La Santa, LZ-67 as well as on the Soo to Caleta Caballo Road.

The Civil Guard, with the aim of ensuring the safety of all drivers, managed to prevent more than thirty drivers who had alcohol levels in exhaled air higher than those legally allowed, some of them even incurring in a crime under article 179 of the C.P., from continuing to use their private vehicles, in addition to some driver who did so under the influence of psychotropic substances being administratively denounced in accordance with article 14 of the Road Safety Law. 

All drivers proposed for sanction for the infractions described above, had their vehicles immobilized that they had been using at the time of verifying the infringing conduct.
