A British tourist disappeared last 23rd in Lanzarote. Margaret Holt's family has moved to the island to look for clues about the whereabouts of this woman, who was staying at the Barceló hotel, in Costa Teguise, and was last seen in the vicinity of the La Corona Volcano at around 5:00 p.m. that day, according to a statement from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium.
The family has already reported her disappearance to the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise. The woman is 65 years old, according to a person who is helping the family to find this tourist, La Voz has been informed.
Margaret is 1.64 meters tall, of slim build, has light brown hair and was last seen wearing a light pink shirt and khaki shorts. In addition, she was wearing white socks, sandals and a small black backpack.
"She usually uses public transport to get around the island," family sources said. The family has already collected the belongings that Margaret left in her hotel room.
Margaret's family has asked for citizen collaboration. If anyone knows where she can be found, please contact her daughter, Clare Riley, who has already traveled from England. Her telephone number is 0044 7803 620 127. You can also contact the telephone number 928 592 400, belonging to the Civil Guard in Costa Teguise.
Search device
The manager of the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, Enrique Espinosa, has confirmed to La Voz that at the moment several emergency agents as well as two helicopters are searching the north of the island. According to a statement, the device was activated "after her relatives, after several days without being able to locate her, moved to the island and filed a complaint on December 26 at night" before the Civil Guard.
Apparently, the woman had traveled to Lanzarote to go hiking. "She is fond of hiking, which she usually does alone, and maintains a good physical shape," they said from the Consortium. In the room of the hotel where she was staying they have found a map of trails, which indicates that the woman was planning to travel the area of Risco de Famara and the vicinity of the La Corona Volcano. Therefore, the search is focusing on the area from the La Corona Volcano to the Jameos del Agua.
Agents of the Consortium, firefighters, local police, as well as two helicopters of the Civil Guard and the Cecoe and members of REN and Emerlan have moved there. In addition, all Civil Protection agents are monitoring the trails of the different municipalities to find this tourist.
If the search is not successful this Wednesday, there will be a meeting at 7:00 p.m. of the Security and Emergency Consortium to prepare the operation for this Thursday. From the Consortium, which is coordinated by Councilor Mónica Álvarez, anyone who has information that may lead to the location of this tourist is asked to urgently call the emergency numbers 112, 080 (Firefighters) and 062 (Civil Guard).
