The Civil Guard has arrested four people in two separate operations for theft of sunglasses in shops in Puerto del Carmen. The first action took place on the 13th, when an 18-year-old was arrested accused of taking three sunglasses valued at 520 euros from the displays of a store.
The events occurred around 6:00 p.m. when the detainee allegedly, aided by three people who accompanied him and who were in charge of distracting the store staff, "fractured the alarm mechanisms of each of the glasses, stealing a total of three and rendering another two unusable for sale due to the force used, being abandoned at the scene after being surprised by the clerks".
According to the Civil Guard, "the physical description of the alleged perpetrator after being able to quickly view the security recordings of the business by the agents of the Main Post of Tías" allowed to establish a device that led to locate the author shortly after on the beach of Puerto del Carmen, "having hidden under the sand the effects stolen to realize the police presence, being able to recover two of the glasses." After his arrest, the investigated has been placed at the disposal of the corresponding duty court of Arrecife.
In the second theft they took the complete display
Three days later, on the 16th, the Civil Guard carried out another very similar intervention, arresting on this occasion three people, a woman and two men between 24 and 28 years of age, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of theft, after stealing from the window of a store a display with 12 sunglasses, valued at 720 euros.
The events occurred around 3 p.m. in a store located in a shopping center in Puerto del Carmen, when the three young people allegedly stole the aforementioned objects located in a wooden display in the store window.
"These people, taking advantage of the occasion and not finding the display anchored, took it and left the place, thus stealing all the exposed glasses, without the staff of the establishment noticing at the time," explains the Benemérita.
With the physical description of the alleged perpetrators, provided by the witnesses, the agents of the Main Post of Tías located them moments later, being immediately arrested for a crime of theft and being able to recover half of the sunglasses, which were returned to the affected business. In this case, the detainees have also been placed at the disposal of the duty court.
