The so-called "ALADÍN" Operation was launched several months ago, when the Civil Guard suspected that a drug trafficking organization was operating between Morocco and Lanzarote, beginning a series of intense and laborious investigations along with numerous surveillances throughout the Island.
According to data from the Armed Institute, recently, after having suspicions that a possible stash was probably going to be transported by sea to a point on the coast, on Wednesday night a large surveillance device was established composed of more than twenty civil guards belonging to the Judicial Police Team of Costa Teguise, Territorial Fiscal Patrol, Information Service, Canine Group, Posts of Costa Teguise, Tías and Yaiza.
This operation detected [a wooden boat sailing very close to the coast of the municipality of Tinajo->http://www.lavozdelanzarote.com/article.php3?id_article=2562], intercepting the boat when it arrived at Playa de la Madera, in Tinajo, where its five occupants were arrested and 24 bundles of Hashish Resin were seized with an approximate weight of 641 kilos of said substance.
At the same time, two rental vehicles were intercepted that were preparing to collect the aforementioned cargo. Its occupants fled running through a very rugged area of volcanic rocks, until they were finally arrested.
The detainees are a Spanish (native of Lanzarote) along with eight Moroccan nationals.This operation, which is still open, has allowed the dismantling of an international network dedicated to the introduction and distribution of significant amounts of drugs in the Canary Islands, arresting all its members.
